Mason Ashe Named Adjunct Professor in the
DeVos Sport Business Management Program
Orlando, FL. - It was announced today that Mason P. Ashe will teach
Sports Law in the DeVos Sport Business Management Graduate Program
at the University of Central Florida in the College of Business
Administration. Program Chair, Richard Lapchick, said that “the
addition of Mason Ashe to our faculty is a great coup. Ashe is
recognized as one of the top sports and entertainment attorneys in
the country. To bring his academic background and real life
experiences into our classroom will be an extraordinary asset for
our students.”
Ashe also has a strong link to UCF in that he represents Vikings
Pro-Bowl Quarterback and former UCF star, Daunte Culpepper. He
recently negotiated Culpepper’s new contract, making him one of the
highest paid players in the NFL. The contract is one of only a few
with a value that exceeds $100 million.
Ashe is the founder and president of Ashe Sports and Entertainment
Consulting, Inc. For fifteen years Ashe has negotiated multi-year
team marketing endorsement contracts for some of the top players in
the NFL, NBA and WNBA. He has received numerous awards and was
recently listed among the 101 Most Influential Minorities in Sports
by Sports Illustrated.
Before forming his own company, Ashe was a partner and co-founder of
Strickland and Ashe Management between 1997 and 2004. He was Vice
President of Team Sports at IMG, the world’s largest sports
management company, between 1993 and 1997.
Ashe received his law degree from the State University of New York
at Buffalo Law School and graduated from Hamilton College, where he
now serves as an alumni trustee.
The DeVos Sport Business Management Graduate Program at UCF teaches
students the business skills necessary to work in the modern day
sports world, while also helping them understand that sports have
the power to change society. Sixty students are enrolled in the
program.
